Like any good adventure, you need a mix of skills—people that bring perspective and balance to the group while also capable of challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries. This requires trust and confidence in the people around you and faith that they can deliver. While this is our core team, we also rely on a cache of creative, brilliant minds that join our efforts depending on each project and individual expertise.
After 20+ years of exploration in business and adventure, my passion & connection to the outdoor industry is strong. From early days as a guide and patroller through driving strategy at some of the best named brands in the business, I have learned that commitment, integrity, a network and a broad knowledge base are the keys to success. I find equal satisfaction in alpine starts to test the latest product concept as I do spending the day in front of a white board mapping process.
Through my fun & diverse career as a designer in the outdoor industry & budding ski guide, I’ve become quite good at making things happen in style. Whether that is planning & leading peak ascents on skis, or designing & bringing to life market-leading products, I know what it takes to have a big idea & make it reality. I love designing & using outdoor gear! My heart is in the mountains, & you can often find me backcountry skiing, rock climbing, or exploring new-to-me places with my fluffy canine
James developed an early curiosity for the natural world and a love of adventure. His passion and respect for the environment & wildlife took him from the Northern Sierras to the depths of the sea for scuba diving and photography. With a diverse business and creative background, James enjoys driving brand awareness through dedication, loyalty, and strong relationships. A passionate sales guru and leader to the core, James loves the adventure of unchartered business relationships.
Over the last 20+ years in the outdoor, ski, fashion and bike industries, I've been fortunate to work with true innovators and thought-leaders pushing the envelope in terms of design, manufacturing, distribution, and communications. This has led to an ethos that incorporates a holistic and tactical approach. Exploration, quality over quantity, and integrity are the cornerstones of my work and play. You can find me in the mountains, on rivers, the mat, and working with TML with equal dedication.
My love for the outdoors started at a young age. I was lucky to live only a few miles from California beaches, & frequently visited my grandparents in Yosemite. My fondest memories as a kid are of me & my sister jumping off bridges/boulders, riding waves, climbing, mountain biking, & snowboarding. After Graduating, my first product manager role sparked my passion for product innovation. In every activity, I think about consumer needs, how to improve products & come up with innovative solutions.
My love for the mountains started at a young age despite my urban/suburban upbringing. Owing my mom endless thanks for waking up before dawn to get her boys to Tahoe throughout the course of every winter, I’ve now taught, raced, competed, coached and hiked for lines for 20 seasons. After graduating from San Diego State with a degree in mass media theory/information systems, I moved to Mammoth to pursue my passion for all things alpine, with aspirations of never compromising professional goals.
Growing up in the foothills of the Dolomites, nature was always right outside my door. I developed a deep, personal connection with the outdoors and found it to be a place for many great adventures. Traveling, studies abroad & professional experience led me to focus on my heritage and appreciate my love of the mountains. I have gathered a decade of experience, in both the outdoor and sporting goods industries. Now I am ready to apply this skills and my passion to a new adventure.
From the flat lands of his native Netherlands, through the Alps to his home in Northern Italy; from sales rep, retail staff and product manager, Henry’s knowledge and experience in the European market ensures The Mountain Lab delivers a global perspective. He has ridden his bike across continents (yes, plural), and played in some of most iconic mountain ranges in the world and is entranced by the mountain lifestyle.
Over the last 15 years I've worked as a project management and digital marketing consultant for clients including The National Football League, Timberland, CBS Sports, and now The Mountain Lab.
